Pump rebuilds cost $800.00 ?? I am not bothered by paying for professional services. I am just interested to know however, why it is that it costs so much to have a pump rebuilt? It is all labour costs or are the parts just that much to replace? I bought a new Honda gas powered pressure washer with 3500 psi and all the hose and everything for less money. Just curious why these pumps are so expensive.

There is another guy on ebay I see that will also test your injectors for free if you send them along with the pump, they do the basic rebuild for I think $320. I do see remanufactured pumps that are in the range of $600-800. I was looking for a JDB331MD2797 recently and found a remanufactured one available for $680 + $600 core. Not sure why the remanufacture vs rebuilt price difference, unless they are changing out other components. Maybe they had to do more than a basic rebuild on your pumps. Both services on ebay say that price may be higher if they find more wrong that needs serviced, but that they will get your approval before going on with it.

Scotty, the parts for a basic rebuild are relatively inexpensive. I typically see the seal kits for around $20-30 and then the flex ring dampener thing for about the same, unless you get the solid upgrade which I've heard is around $40-50. I believe the cost is for the labor and bench testing. These rotary pumps are pretty simple and not tough to take apart and put back together if you have the SM-2045. Also, pressure washer pumps are not like injection pumps, other than that they pump. I've rebuilt a few of those and they are pretty simple. Injection pumps have a lot more precision and timing that can be messed up if you are not careful.

I'm not going to pull up the threads, but we have had a number of discussons in the past about what you get for a injector pump "rebuild". They are an interesting read if you care to look for them.

I decided just to carry the whole tractor to the shop. I most likely would have messed more up than I could fix. Anyway, 450B is in the shop as we speak.

I put the tractor in the shop, messed with it long enough. Don't know enough to work on the pump. Thanks all.
