1010 jumps out of 3rd gear?
Could be a bad bearing, I would pull the top cover and check.

1010 jumps out of 3rd gear
Are you holding the gear shift lever or the reverser? If it is on the dash, I would think that it's the reverser. If it is the gear shift lever, the forks that slide the gear may be sprung slightly and not engaging 3rd gear fully. Lavoy's suggestion, to lift off the top will probably give you an answer. gregjo1948

Early 1010's had the gear shifter on the RH side of the dash, I think that is what he is talking about.

1010 jumps out of 3rd gear
Lavoy--you're probably correct about the dash shifter--he didn't say anything about other gears jumping out--Still might have sprung fork in tranny. I know you've seen it all. Here's one for you-- When I got my 1010, it jumped out of 2nd gear. Someone had stripped the top-front righthand stud of the tranny and installed a bolt with a nut thru into the tranny. The nut didn't allow the gear to slide completely into place and caused it to pop out. I reduced the thickness of the nut and it hasn't popped out since. Wouldn't you think the dumb A would have corrected it, knowing that the popping out started right after he installed the bolt w/nut? I find that 2nd gear is my most used gear in this machine. gregjo1948
