John deere 450b steering pressure plates

Post by harvesthill » Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:18 pm

Hello there,
I am wondering out there if anyone knows how to set the fingers on the pressure plates without the gauge so you can get the proper adjustment ? I had the pressure plates resurfaced and now I need to get the proper adjustment. I know wherethey were before I took them apart, just wondering if there was away to dial them in so they are properly adjusted. Not sure if the gauge that JD had is even available. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

No way to set any pressure plate without the gauge. The gauge sets the fingers relative to the machine they are installed in, no other accurate way to do it.
The gauge is still available as far as I know, I may still have one left.

Gauge is available.
That is the best way to set them.
