Old Construction Yellow Paint

Post by foxd » Fri Apr 19, 2013 3:04 pm

I painted a few small parts today with JD Old Construction Yellow paint from a spray can. I sprayed three coats in order to cover without running. When the paint dried it was surprisingly dull, almost like a flat yellow. Is this normal for the OCY paint?
Thanks - Dave

I assume you are using JD branded paint. The few cans I have used
dried shiny.Even over a light grey primer it doesn't cover well.

Might be a bad can, or just didn't mix up, I have never had trouble, always nice and shiny.

Thanks for the replies. That can of paint is gone will try another. Do spray cans go bad? I bought them from the local JD Dealer, no idea how long they had been on the shelf.

Almost sounds like the primer they sell for the old timie JD Yellow. It's flat pastel yellow after which the gloss yellow covers it nicely.
It's better to seek forgivness than to ask for permission...
