JD 612 Hydraulic blade

Post by Captainjoe » Sat Apr 20, 2013 6:29 am

Bought a 612, 6 way blade last fall and when I went to install it tilted down and now is stuck in this position?

a guy told me I could take an air hose at 80 psi and test?

Anyone ever done this. I need to replace all the hoses as they are shot..

thinking about taking ram off and inspecting.

Took it off the shaft is bent...

probably due to wrong ram combined with over extension...

OOuch!

The rams are $500...

Going to go to hydraulic shop Monday and see if they can make a shaft for it.

I bent a long ram on my skid steer 90 degrees and then straightened it out only to do it again later the same day. Straightened it out again and although the seals were leaking badly, I worked it for the rest of the weekend like that no problem. I replaced the ram but I was impressed with whatever the metal is that rams are made of. So I am thinking,....Tiny Crawler has done it so, a minor bend could be straightened as long as there is no damage to the Ram that might wreck the seal.
Others here might have similar experience???

Thanks for the replies.

May try to bend. It's only lightly bent at full extension but enough to prevent travel.

I'm thinking the steel used isn't hardened. I really bent the ram on my New Holland backhoe and the local hydraulic shop made a new ram and chromed for about $115?

don't even know if this one is re-buildable... red in color so definately aftermarket. Couldn't take the top cap off with a 3' pipe wrench.
