Lessons of a brake band....

Post by krusty » Fri Apr 26, 2013 2:36 pm

Well it had been a year or two ago I replaced one of the brake bands in my 40C. Every month I had to adjust it so it would stop that side. Being a crawler newb I did not know better. Finally I tore it apart and the wear pattern on the pad was horrible. I guess when I stuck the final back on, it pushed the band so that it was not in the same plane as the drum and wore it to heck.

Anyways ordered a new brake band, installed it, and this time checked to ensure that everything was aligned all right once the final drive was back on. Sure enough, it was skewed the same way but very easy to get re-aligned. Adjusted it and away I went. Man oh man that thing turns on a dime now....I may go back and check the other side as it is amazing. Of course I took it for a ride and did some dozing in the mud just for fun.

Lesson learned! Happy crawling.....
