1010 gas motor oil

Post by 304thomas55 » Sat Apr 27, 2013 10:52 am

my books calls out a DM API spec....but guess what no longer available. The motor was rebuilt but the previous owner used 10w-30. I'm thinking straight 30w detergent oil....do I need to add the zinc stuff for the bearings

My choice is 15/40.
10/30 for winter cold starts.

Not a big deal, doubt it will hurt, but most or all 15W-40 are diesel oils, additive package may be altered for diesel specs. A good 10w-30 or straight weight will be just fine.
