I'm just anticipating the worst. I guess all of the adjustments would need to be done before changing parts. Any special tools needed for track adjustments? Does the "turn wrenches" work for steering clutches (if needed), or is that a different source of stress?

No, none of it is rocket science, all are easily done for the most part. Yes there a several tricks to doing things, but all that info is available here.
