440 Oil Pressure

Post by Wall:E » Mon May 27, 2013 6:25 pm

So, hydraulics are now restored but I noticed today the oil pressure gauge will read near zero on idle and 25+ on high rev. This was not the case ever before the machine sat for a couple of years so could the sending unit be faulty, the gauge itself or am I looking at an oil pump failure. To begin with I intend to check the pressure with pressure gauge attached where the sending unit belongs but any other tips would be appreciated.

Along with the oil pressure issue, the water pump gasket is leaking so I guess the down time had an adverse effect on my machine.

440 oil pressure

Good idea to check the pressure, removing sending unit. It must be an electric gauge, so I would guess, either sending unit or the gauge after setting for a while. gregjo1948
