I have a straight jd 450. serial # T5E3M101119T. I bought this thing as a basket case and put it back together. It has a new engine, new drive clutch and new steering clutches. I ran it for about a day and half pushing up stumps. It ran perfect with no problems. It would spin the tracks with no problems at all. I was pushing up a stump after working it about hour when it quite pulling in low. I tried to back up and it would not pull in reverse either. I let it set over night and the next day it worked fine for about 10 minutes and then same thing. It tries to pull a little in low and reverse but can move the dozer on level ground with the blade up. It pulls in high with no problems. Any ideas? I'm not sure where to start here. Trans fluid is new and full. It was like flipping a switch when it quit working. Work perfect then nothing. thanks for the help

JD 450 transmission problems need help :(
450 straight slipping when hot
I have same problem as Brown describest except it takes mine about 30 minutes of use before starting to slip.
I am currently tearing it apart, but have no idea what to look for as source of problem.
Suggestions appreciated.

Stacy, not sure this will help u but I had metal in my trans filter when I cut the filter open. I took the top off of my trans and found a bearing completely gone. The gears had picked up some metal and messed up a few gears. I did a complete rebuild on my trans. All new bearings, seals and broken parts. I also replaced the clutch pack while I was in there. A lot of work but was worth it. Hope this helps ya.

Can't remember the total but the oem jd parts are high. I had to replace a gear that was expensive. After market parts are your friend. Look at broken tractors Web page for some parts help. That where I got some of mine from. U can get most all the bearings from a good bearing store. I bought all high quality bearings for a third of what jd wanted. Seals too.
