Two stroke diesel trouble
Two stroke diesel trouble
My 440 loader has the Detroit two stroke diesel in it and the other day I noticed I started to loose power. The next day I could not get it to stay running . It would start up very easy and run for about 6 seconds and then die again. After about 20 times of trying it would finally stay running but would run rough. It would not seem to get to full rpms. It would keep revving up ans down on its own. The next day it would do the same thing. It seems like as soon as it would start to warm up it would stay running but not that good. I cleaned out my fuel lines and replaced my fuel filter. And it still does it.could it be my fuel pump? I noticed a little bit of diesel was leaking between my fuel pump and my engine but it was just a drop or two.

two stroke diesel trouble
How's your air intake? Blockage of air could be a problem. Isn't there a blower on your Detroit diesel? I'm quite sure there is on the larger Detroits. gregjo1948

I had trouble with the line between the fuel filter and the fuel pump collapsing.

How did you put a new air filter on it, they are an oil bath filter?

not likely, still sounds like a fuel problem.
