1964 jd1010 gas

Post by DcrockerinMaine » Sun Sep 08, 2013 12:18 pm

This is the 1010 I checked out today. Started fine, no smoke, all 4 forward gears and reverse worked fine (shift lever on the right of the dash). The reverser worked. The 6way hydraulic blade worked fine in all positions, and easily lifted the front of the tractor off the ground. The dozer spun both left and right fine, but a little snappier turning right.

The owner replaced the right final drive at some point. There were a few new hydraulic hoses and a new coil. The owner hasn't used the winch, as it isn't hooked up, but does have the master cylinder and coupler. It has a rops, but not installed.

The tracks need to be tightened but the undercarriage looks solid. The rails had plenty of meat left on them and the bushings seemed good. All the rollers rolled free with no wobble. The rock guards were solid ands not dinged up.

The seller is asking $5900 which istoo much, but seemed eager to sell so I think I can talked him down a bit.

Looks and sounds good. If the winch worked it would be a good price at $5900. Anything you can get it reduced just sweetens the deal. gregjo1948

bought it...

Post by DcrockerinMaine » Wed Sep 11, 2013 5:32 am

So I was able to talk the seller down, and bought the 1010. Will be bringing it home on Saturday.

I'm waiting for my manuals to arrive in the mail, in the meantime a few small questions:

Does anyone happen to know the bolt diameter/thread count for the bolt holes on the front side where the front of the rops connects? And the same question for the bolt hols on the right and left deck where the rops posts connect?

What size diameter and thread count for the grease fittings on the undercarriage. Are the the grease fittings and sizes on the tensioner and the rollers all the same? I don't know if they are the original button head or have been converted to zerk fitting, but will know more Saturday after we get it home and cleaned up.

I'm sure I'll have a LOT more questions as soon as I have it here, so look forward to learning more from you guys.

Congrats on your new toy! The grease fittings are the same diameter and thread as a zerk. You can pick them up at auto parts store. (NAPA)gregjo1948

Congratulations on your new purchase. You'll like the 6 way blade and reverser. Sounds like this machine should meet your needs nicely.

My wife keeps wondering why I'm always expanding the yard, pulling in more wood, regrading the drive way, etc. Actually she knows - for me, it's fun. Paul
