Pushing a little dirt

The weather got nice here this weekend so I seized the opportunity to get the blade on.
Bolted up the pump and got the lines hooked up at the pump/tank.
Bolted the blade up and my brother talked me into pushing a little dirt. I was hesitant because when we were hooking up the blade I noticed the water pump leaking a decent amount out the weep hole

She pushed pretty good I think. 2nd gear has no bog down, it'll just spin if I take too big of a cut. 3rd gear will push but dies out if I take a big cut haha.

Also, I only had 1 or 2 spots of oil blow-by on my face, so maybe working it and getting it good and hot seated the rings in. I'm going to clean up all the oil-blowby from before and see how much comes out next time.

I need to get the correct pins made where the blade connects to the cylinders, but that's no big deal.

i have a 6v53 and i put a hose on the air box tubes down as far as possible so what oil does come out gets as low as possible you might want to look at that just make sure you don't get to low on crawler where they might get buried in dirt

Nice looking crawler and I'm glad to see it will be worked and not just sit in a shed on display.

I was actually very impressed how my own ICD pushes snow in 3rd and it had a lot more bottom end torque than I expected out of a detroit. Mine is almost 100 % functional now, just not painted.

I think ICD's and 440's in general will continue to be a collectors favorites. Just look at the value of any Detroit powered tractors.

I was taking some pretty big cuts because I really wanted to see what it would do. I've heard so many stories about what it would push, so I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype and it has so far.
I'm sure it'll get used, there's plenty of briar bushes in the woods that need cleaned up and some other dirt work that needs done. My problem is I don't have a trailer quite heavy enough to haul it.

I agree with Jason, the value of the 440ICD will continue to climb. The DD engines are very unique and low maintenence provided you keep them serviced and operate them properly. They sip fuel compared to the JD gas 2 cylinder engine and have more torque.

It's been a while, but I played around on the dozer Saturday.
We had some bad storms early this summer and it took out a bunch of trees in the woods so I decided to push some of the stumps out.

Thats a pretty big stump to be pushing out with a 440 you must of worked her pretty hard looks good

Yep that was a pretty big one for the 440. It was actually half out of the ground. The storm uprooted that one. The smaller one that's behind it was mostly in the ground though, it was harder.
Just have to work at them a little longer that's all.
