Right here's where I usually get in trouble...I've been thinking again.....
The shop built 3 pt on my 420 is working great. But... I have this lingering fear I'm going to break something since I don't have a float position. I really don't need down pressure for my uses.
So, how about replacing the lift link with chain. That would allow some "float" and still be a positive lift. It would also make hooking up easier.
Your thoughts??

You could also just run the cylinder with one hose, remove the down pressure hose. Your valve may or may not like it, but easy to try.

The chain works for me. I have numerous 3 pt attachments that I use on the front of my skid steer. An adapter plate on the front of my loader for the three point is handy. Although, when I use the chain to create a float, it usually works best when I am backing up. Like the 8ft blade and the 5 ft spring harrows. I also used this when the 8 ft blade was mounted to an improvised 3 pt hitch on the ripper attachment on the rear of my 350c. It needed to float but the ripper does not have this feature so I simply replaced the top arm with chain and it works nicely.
