And to add, I remembered as soon as it came off, that, I never put the rock guards back on that side. Had that one off to do a small repair.

yes, yes she did. However I did one more stupid move before I got out of this mess. I put the loader all the way down to go for tools, and the loader frame jammed that track in tight against the nose. Double Damm! However, a half hour with the pry bars, backing off the track by letting out a big turd of grease, and the luck of having a winch on the back to drag myself back out of that stumphole.... all the while using a little reverse to keep the sprocket tight on the chain and quicker than a Magpie on a gut pile, I had it back on.
Called it a day and I am not telling mama.

Recovery Unit
I was thinking it was time to add a recovery unit to your collection.
A hoe equipped 450 will pack an entire 350 crawler into the shop for repairs.
Our yard 350 had a final drive go a few weeks ago, I'll take a picture as proof.
That's was a quick track re-install. Rock guards are an absolute must at all times if you are working these crawlers. Plus properly adjusted tracks as per the technical manual.

Yes I got a bit lucky with that track install. It sure helped that I was just off a hard gravel trail and the winch pulled me easily back onto a solid level surface. As well, the bottom back few rollers stayed on the track. I discovered in the process that there is a fair bit of wobble in the front Idler. That might have contributed to it coming off. I had that stump up in the air backing out of the hole turning all the while. Rookie mistake. I have not put the expelled grease back into the adjuster yet, drove it back to the cabin loose as it was too cold for the grease gun to prime. I will be picking up new bolts for the rock guard tomorrow and will try to get it on before heading back to get that stump on the Weekend.(weather permitting) Many of the stumps I am pulling are in much worse places if it should happen again. It amazes me how large of a stump the 350's will lift. I have not found one that is too heavy. Spruce is not the heaviest wood though. Bad news to hear that final drive went, I assume you have spare parts?

Final Drives in Stock
I haven't looked yet but 100% sure we have 3 or 4 in stock.
This machine was used only during the summer for loading pipe and stayed in a customers yard for over 15 years without only motor oil changes so I can't complain. I'm guessing we ran the final drive dry.
Just another winter project that will get put ahead of working on some of my collector units.
