40c where to get parts???

Post by olecp » Tue Jan 07, 2014 9:26 pm

I just bought a 1954 40c wanted to know if there was anywhere that had new parts for the tracks such as rollers and sprockets . I gave $2500 for it was it to much or a good buy? It runs and has a blade.[/img]

New original track components are not available from John Deere, except
maybe pins and bushings. You can get new after market sealed rollers
from Lavoy. He may have some NOS sprockets but if not, used or some
one who has hoarded parts are what is out there. The 40c can be upgraded to 350c tracks but will set you back more than the price of the machine. You can upgrade to 420 or 1010 tracks but again you will be
looking at used parts. While a good crawler with fresh paint or a good
running engine is nice, the real money is in the undercarraige.

I think I have a set of NOS sprockets left, right now I have 5 sealed lifetime rollers left, might be able to get more.
