2010 injection pump

Post by fixedforever » Sat Feb 08, 2014 7:56 pm

I have a John Deere 2010 crawler loader, the machine used to run well, but was always difficult to start. One day while operating it, it slowly lost power, and than quit running. It will run a little with constant priming, but not well enough to operate. I cleaned the fuel filters and blew out all the fuel lines, and made sure the injection pump was getting fuel. This did not repair it.

I was told that the Roosa master injection pump needs to be rebuilt.
Anyone agree that this is the problem?

I found a local shop who said they can do it for about $700.

Where can I get the removal and installation instructions for doing this? I know its important to time this part correctly.

if you pull the little cover on the side of the pump(has 2 small screws) you will most likely find (mouse turds)(search mouse turds and you will see more) which means the pump governor is coming apart ... as for timing that same cover has 2 lines that have to lineup as well as (at the same time) a mark on the flywheel...turn the engine by hand counterclockwise as viewed from the flywheel end until the DC mark comes up DO NOT GO PAST THE MARK if you do you have to back the engine up about 1/4 turn they try again also there is a mark on the end of the drive shaft that has to line up with the oil pump/cam gear... PS GET a service manual

Could be that flexible weight retaining ring broke up. I think if you get all the pieces cleaned out of the pump it will still operate. I have a manual on these pumps in a folder that is a dealers copy and is very detailed. I have it in a folder on my computer but, I don't know how to send it. It won't go by email attachment, I think because it's to big. I down loaded it free but, I don't remember where I found it. If it is the retainer ring, it isn't to expensive but, these pumps are very complicated. At least they are to me. gregjo1948

If you do a search of recent threads, I believe we reposted information about the injection pump manual (I believe it's either SM-2045 or SM-2046) and how to find it. It can be purchased from JD as a download, and there are even free versions of it online (media sharing) that you can find the link to if you search the threads on here.
