hello all,

ok, here we go...

pulled the marvel schebler off this morn. again, completely disassembled it, cleaned all jets & journals. main jet was nasty! thank's Duke :) re-set float @ 1/4" re-assembled.
installed on my 58, 420. ran idle screw in all the way, then out two turns.
fired her up, after warmed up, I dialed the idle screw and load jet in and she idled steady, no popping, or missing. so I decided to set the load jet as per the manual, @ high idle . got her dialed in running great... then when I pulled the throttle lever closed to idle down, she at first wouldn't come down, then when she did ,she fell on her face popping and dieing off until she finally died :(.

am I not suppose to pull it down from full throttle all at once?

it seems like the floats are sticking or the governor is malfunctioning

HELP.... ;( PLEASE :)

I don't think the float is your problem. Maybe timing. Try retarding your spark a little. It might have a malfunctioning distributor. gregjo1948

thanks greg.

I will ck the timing, that's one thing that has not been done yet. I figured it must be close, just the way it started cold, not even a full engine revolution & pop she is running. it is very strange how it can run sooo great for 15 minutes and then fall on its face and die, that's what made me think the floats were sticking , or the governor was malfunctioning. I will go through the timing procedure as per the manual today.

I did print out the m/s carb. manual pdf. some very good info. thank you :D

I am making progress though, however slight it may be. 8)

I would like to take a second to thank you all for the advice & wisdom you have shared with me on my beloved project. you guys are awesome!
