1010 hydraulics question
1010 hydraulics question
Good Morning
I have a 1962 1010 with the 810 loader. If i push the loader joystick all the way forward (to lower the arms) it will "stick" in this position. I think that this is called the float position. My question is will this help keep stress off the hydraulic pump during cold weather starts? In this position does the oil just circulate through the system? The pump is working fine and i would like to keep it this way.
Thank you

It allows the bucket to "float". No up or down pressure: just the weight of the bucket and arms. gregjo1948

Clayton, I use the float position a lot when moving snow. Once the ground is frozen, it floats nicely along the frozen contours of the road.

Thanks you guys for the help and advice. I used it to plow snow yesterday and the float feature worked great!

Re: 1010 hydraulics question
There should be a hyd pump disconnect on the front of the motor. a little handle with a sliding sleeve to disengage the hyd pump for cold starts.Clayton wrote:Good Morning

I'm not certain there is a disconnect on all of them. Mine doesn't have one but mine is a dozer not a loader. I did have a 1010 dozer a couple years ago that did have one. gregjo1948

Early ones don't, there is a serial number break.

Clayton, I've bought some parts from Farmer John. Give him a call, he knows his stuff pretty well and he'll more than likely know what your looking for.
Some of the parts were a little more beat up than I expected but, oh well they worked.
His prices are a little high on things I think, but he has a lot of stuff.

Did you try Lavoy? He sells parts at a good price... That is if there is such a thing as a good price when working on a dozer
