update, RE, 420 running problem

Post by theshanmand1! » Mon Mar 17, 2014 6:16 am

Good morning,
just wanted to update you all and thank you all again for all of your help.
this site and you all are the best! :D

ordered the single wire alt. installed and wired it as per the diagram, installed my inline fuel filter, checked and rechecked  she turned two revolutions and fired, as it idled I thought maybe that was it...
but it was still an uneven idle no matter how hard I tried to adjust the carb.
then about 15 minutes in, she started heaving & popping & eventually died!
boy was I bummed  had to walk away for the rest of that day
the next morning I thought I would try the brake clean on the intake again, maybe I didn't spray enough on it, so I fired her up and sprayed away...
all of the sudden she raised up in idle, and again, and again! :D
I wish that I knew how to post a pic for you guys, blown out gasket and a MAJOR crack in the intake :!: cant believe I finally found it, thanks again for all of your advice guys :D
one more ? should I use antisieze on the bolts or blue locktight? also, any sealant with the new gasket?
thanks again, shanon.

Yes to antiseize, no on the sealant.

Might be a little low, but at least is uniform.
