450B only turns left!
450B only turns left!
So I got a good deal on a 450B last week. Low time engine, decent UC. Small problem: It only makes left turns.
I was hoping it needed something simple, like maybe a linkage adjustment, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I did notice that in high gear, if I yank the right steering clutch, and hold it, it will slowly creep to the right. This only seems to work in high gear.
The brakes work fine.
Anyone have any idea whats going on? Thanks in advance!!

to be sure we understand each other, when you pull a handle it has two functions. First it releases the clutch for that side then, further pulling applies the brake for the track on that side.
So you are saying when you pull the left arm all the way back it stops the track. It then turns left because the right side is driving. When you pull the right handle is it stopping the track on the right ?

Hi,
If the right side is declutching and not braking, it will turn slowly to the right as you drive along. If it is not even declutching, you will go straight ahead.
You can also try the Big Tree Test. When up against a large enough tree, both tracks spin. Then, pull back on both levers and they will stop when the clutch packs release.

another test would be (with trans in low forward) pull back both levers and nothing should move ...if your right track still wants to pull and make a left turn then your RIGHT clutch pack is rusted and not releasing ........

Thanks for all the help, guys.
I tried the tree test, and the brake test. Both times both the tracks came to a complete stop. I did notice that the right steering lever (the one not working) pulls back farther than the left one, and doesn't feel as stiff, almost like something down there isn't engaging. I'm pretty sure it's not a linkage issue.

IF THERE WAS NO LOAD ON THE ENGINE when both tracks stopped then your right brake most likley has oil on it you need to reseal the final and trans/output and replace the brake band.... after rereading your last post you might get lucky and beable to adjust the right brake up but dont hold your breath
you have a service manual RGHT ??? if not GET one and do a complete clutch/brake adjustment exactly as the book spells it out and go from there
