430 engine

Post by tractornutjd » Mon Jun 30, 2014 8:02 am

Hi I have a 430 engine that knocks intermittently. It start and runs fine otherwise. Good oil pressure. My question can a governor weight be hitting the block? Noise usally show up at high rpm and it does not matter if the engine is loaded. Knock comes and goes. Any rhoughts before I tear it down?? P.S. sorry it is in a wheel tractor-430S . Would like to find a 430 dozer though!

Try to determine where the knock is from.
Mechanics trick of using a long screwdriver tip against the block and your ear on Tue other end may help get you close to the knock.

They won't hit the block, but will peel lots of tooth off of the cam gear.
