We were doing some hay last weekend and started having problems with our 2010 wheel tractor.
The problem was somewhat random but seemed to happen mostly when the tractor was NOT under a load.
It would just start cutting out, like someone was turning the key off and then back on. I initially thought it was a spark issue, but it may not be. When the tractor starts to die, I could pull the choke out and it would take back off. It would sound like the engine was laboring slightly but still hitting on all 4. It would eventually sound normal and run ok for 2-3 min. and then repeat.
I took the carb off and cleaned it all out but didn't find any apparent issue.
Two questions:
1. What are the proper adjustments for the large screw on the bottom of the bowl and the small screw near the top of the carb?
2. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what it might be?
I'm posting this because I assume the 2010 gas wheel tractor and gas crawler use the same engine/carb. If I'm wrong we can delete this.

Hi,
Sounds like a partially blocked idle circuit. When not under load, the governor would close the throttle butterfly and you would then be mostly using the idle circuit. The use of the choke would richen the mix, so it must be running lean.
I presume from the way you stated the problem that is was OK under load, when the governor opens up the butterfly.

Check to see if you have a blockage in the fuel tank outlet or something like that, I have had that happen on a 420, cleaned the outlet, no more problem.

Stan, you are correct, it would normally run fine under load.
I will check both suggestions. My grandpa suggested what Lavoy said. We had the same problem on our other 2010, a dead bug was in the tank and kept floating over to the inlet and blocking it after about 15 min. of running.
Do either of you know the factory settings for the two adjustment screws?
