how does the single wire to the batt term on switch from the dash fuse protect the circuit???

i thought that the thing would need 2 wire so that the juice flows thru the fuse till it exceeds the amp and breaks the circuit....cant see how single wire from dash fuse can cause a break in the circuit.

any help?

that fuse was for the auxiliary plug at the rear under the seat and yes it has to have 2 wires on it it is not there to protect the ignition system .... MOST 2010s had NO fuse or circuit breaker to the ignition switch..... after ser# 45517 they added a circuit breaker in the battery lead to the ignition switch .... so what i would if i wanted protection is take the battery lead off the switch put it to a breaker and then a wire from the breaker to the switch
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper

so the dash fuse sposed to have 2 wires?????? aint no way this nor the brand new replacement dash fuse has 2 wire onit.....
still dont see how it would work!!!!

anyway if not really used or needed i will probably just use inline fuse holders to protect what we need.

Hi,

All fuses need two wires, source and load. Or, power in and power out if you like thinking of it that way better.

Most panel fuse holders have one terminal at the very end, and the other up near where it passes thru the panel.

It is not uncommon that they break one connection off of the back of the fuseholder.

You might have a wire dangling with the remains of the front tab.....

yup....all kinds of wires hanging down and loose!....light switch dial has at least 4 or 5 tabs that are rusted and half gone so wires not fastened as well as several other locations....so process is getting to them eventually....

the old girl is up and running tho tis just getting all the wires replaced etc etc

aint using the in dash fuse just have 2 inline fuses as 2 sets of lighting arrangements on the unit. one has 2 sealed beams for headlights and other set is 2 forward & 1 back on the rops...would 15 AND 20 amp fuses be ok on these lines or should they be smaller? should i get a fuse on the starter/ignition line?

Hi,

Yeah. In line OK and easier to put in. A little harder to find the right one when blown.

15 amps ok for lights and such. 10 amps probably too small. Would use a 20 amp to the starter solenoid. I would use fast blow fuses, not the slow ones. Heck, all you worry about on these machines is a pinched wire and that is going to draw dozens of amps and you would like it to pop right away and not cook the wires..... ;)

sounds about right...will get a 20 on the solenoid! and yah i don't need that wiring problem again!!!....burned out the distr..coil and other wires so was a mess!!!!
