O.K.---- where is the best place to get parts

Post by cantbeatadeere » Mon Sep 15, 2014 6:56 pm

I called my local dealer and they can't get parts for my 79 350c...called the local dear ag dealer and the guy seems to be clueless. so if you guys have had good luck with someone knowledgeable it would be great. pre-cleaner bowel, rubber seal that lays on the hood at the base of the pre-cleaner, muffler(not the stack),shift boot cover, angle pin and bushing, headlamp knob, the rubber boot for the tilt ram, and last but not least the parts and service manuals..........thanks

Some stuff I have, but most of what you are looking at will be Deere. Keep in mind that most parts guys nowadays were born years after the crawler you are looking for parts for, so they usually have little experience on the old stuff. Also keep in mind that by and large industrial dealer parts guys are used to having the customer provide the part number in most cases.
So, as a general rule, regardless of whether is it is a green or yellow dealership, on the older stuff, only ever give a part number, never tell them what it fits or they will tell you they can't get it before they even look it up.
I can get you manuals, but by and large you can probably find a reprint or used on Ebay for much cheaper than I can sell you one.

Hi,

I find I can get most parts from Deere, but it requires that I tote in my own parts manual. With it, I have the part number which can be entered into the system (which usually winds up crossed to a new number) and a diagram showing what it looks like.

If I didn't have my parts manual and just a model and serial number, I would be out of luck on just about anything older than 2001....

Remember that you can look up parts for free on the JD parts website, and you can even get a free account there which will allow you to search a particular dealer's inventory and pricing. I'll post the link when I get back in the office from the field.

Here is the parts website; just search for "350C" in the "model" field at the top left:

Lavoy, what do you sell, I would be more than glad to get as many parts as I can from you, for your knowledge and advise its the least I could do. I did order the parts and service manuals off e-bay as you said. only been a member on here for a couple weeks and you guys have been VERY helpful ...thanks again!!

from jdparts.com I think you've got to register with them, but once you do you can look up about anything.

Item No. Part No. Description Qty Price
3 R28794 DUST BOWL 1 14.25 USD 7.xx USD aftermarket
5 T21327 SEAL 1 49.87 USD
18 AT21689 MUFFLER 1 150.24 USD 54.85 USD aftermarket
9 T27559 BOOT 1 8.51 USD

I didn't look up the rest, but you get the idea.
