Little Rock Hounds

Post by CuttingEdge » Sun Sep 14, 2014 6:26 am

We try to encourage our kids to get outside as well as to be a family, and so Katie and I try to do things for the kids. Having a farm helps, and while I will be the first to say that farming is not endless picnics in the back forty, well we do try and arrange that now and then.

The kids have a Land Before Time movie called "Sky Colored Stones" and they wanted to go out in the woods and discover some. It took a bit of work for both Katie and I, but this weekend we went out and found some.

We have it rough because at ages 1, 7,8 and 9 where the 9 year old wants to explore, and where we can take the infant, can be quite different. In any case we found some Geodes as you can see in one of the photos.

(BTW: We might have "salted the mine" so to speak by placing some Geodes around some boulders in our fields, but it was worth the excitement on their faces. You don't get that from watching too much TV!)

Enjoy the adventures; looks like you' re doing the right things. My girls have graduated college, but I remember their younger days and the awe. Much of it inspired their life choices. Best regards. Paul

Cool! The kids love stuff like that! We too own a farm and our grand kids love it. This year my wife let our 2 7 year old grand daughters plant a row in her veggie garden of anything they wanted too. They had a blast!
