can't open transmission cover on 1010 crawler loader

Post by whollings » Mon Sep 15, 2014 2:32 pm

while replacing a broken drive shaft on my crawler loader we tried to remove the transmission cover thinking it would give us a better look at the problem. it didn't. after removing the bolts we found the cover would not come off. we were only able to pry it up about an inch. there appears to be items fastened to the underside of the cover. the only reason to take it off at this point is because this seems to have locked up the transmission. I'm guessing a yoke out of position but really can't see under the cover. Does anyone have a clue as to my problem.(other than my ignorance) ?

You don't mention model, but I don't know of any where there is something else to remove save maybe a dipstick. You may have a bent shift fork or shaft out of position due to a bad bearing. Follow your manual.

On a 1010, I think you can remove the shift lever and maybe help getting cover off. gregjo1948
