JD 450B WILL NOT MOVE
Moving dirt back and forth ,,all working fine .This crawler has a backhoe on it to. Tried to come up a pretty good incline and machine just stopped pulling . Front bucket and backhoe still work fine. If the ground clutch went out ,,will or can it just go out all at once.Or what does this sound like may be wrong.Any help would be appreciated. Thank ya
Have you checked the trans fluid? when was the filter last changed?...did you have any reverse? after it sat did any thing change? did you try changing the range selector? after those checks time to check trans pressures you will need the service manual if you don't have one ..... just so you know there is NO "clutch" between the engine and the trans the "clutch" pedal on the left is a valve in the trans that does pretty much the same thing as putting the HLR lever in neutral... check clutch pedal and HLR linkage ...slight chance that both steering clutches are slipping but it should have been able to back up since you were on an uphill grade and the odds of both starting to slip at the same time I kinda doubt that is it

450b will not move
Ok ,so got to look at it better,,,pulled the rubber boot out under where the floor plate was . All clutch linkage is working from the pedal to inside the casing and can see the pressure plate but the input shaft is not spinning at all at any time,,,must have pulled the center of the clutch out or something to that nature. This is a 1973 model 450b thanks for yall input.
450 stopped moving
Definitely sounds like a clutch problem if nothing is turning past the pressure plate. My 450C had something similar happen to it. In my case there is an interconnect linkage between the engine clutch and the HLR that broke and allowed the HLR to move into and stay in the declutched position. Former JD mechanic friend of mine managed to jiggle linkage into the engaged position through bell housing access so we could drive the machine 1/2 mile out of the bush and haul it to his shop to remove engine and repair.
