450e clutch adjustment

Post by IWLBCNU » Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:16 pm

Have a 1986 450E, had it a few years, low usage, clutch stops fine but the range shifter grinds and have to cut it off to change. Is the procedure online?

Hi,

There is no engine clutch. The thing which acts as a clutch pedal operates a hydraulic valve. There is (or was) a shaft brake in there to stop the shaft. They wear out and then you have your grinding issue.....

Hi,

I disagree with me, too. For some reason, I was thinking 350, not 450. In my defense, it must have been all the 350 isolator discussion as of late.

Sorry. I never had a 450, so usually stay out of 450 discussions.

Hi,

Of course it does. Pay no attention to me. I apparently don't know a 3 from a 4 these days......

It is, of course the *3* 50 with a reverser which has no clutch......
