just an aside on these old things.....the starter has only 1 center pin type bolt for fastening to the engine.....i had quite a bit of trouble keeping a good ground on my old 40s wheeled tractor.....solved the problem by adding a ground cable direct from the battery...which of course is positive ground...but she sure does a fine job....6volt an starts every time even below zero in unheated tractor shed..

oops....grounded the extra ground cable direct from the starter to the frames itself....not to the battery.
