have 1212 david brown....diesel getting into the crank oil probably got gallon or more in it.....
do these things have o rings...looks like a backer plate mounted to front of engine so looks like a real job to pull this thing as large gear in front of the backer plate ....which appears as where the leak could be coming in...on the shaft maybe????

I would assume there has to be a shaft seal on the input shaft. Probably will require pump tear down to replace. I would probably look at any other work that is needed on the pump at the same time.

There is a David Brown tractor club in England, you might want to try their website http://www.dbtc.co.uk/. They may have better information available. I believe that will be a Perkins engine.
