Hydraulic Oil Leak - Belly Pan

Post by bkhulett » Fri Dec 11, 2015 2:26 pm

My John Deere 450G dozer developed a pretty severe hydraulic fluid leak underneath the belly pan. The hydraulics quit working is what first alerted me there was a problem. What typically breaks to allow fluid to leak at this location? I think I am going to have to get a professional to fix and not tackle this repair myself.

There could be any number of things that could be your leak or even leaks. My first suspect would be the steel pressure line leading from the pump back to the hydraulic control valve. They're bad to wear and then crack open. However, the best thing to do is remove the belly pan, side curtains and floor board or anything else that can be removed to facilitate finding your leak. Then go from there.
