Cylinder leak repairs
I have a leak at the wiper seal on a couple of cylinders on my 9300 backhoe. There doesn't seem to be any issues with the internal seals as the power and hold on those cylinders is fine. Should I rebuild the entire cylinder or can I replace the wipe seal, wear ring and packing on the rod end of the cylinder to take care of the leak?

Thanks for the input. I guess the question I really should be asking is if it makes more sense to do the whole cylinder while I'm taking it apart. The cost for parts is dramatically different but with the age of the machine (1983), will the piston seals fail? The machine has not been overused for most of it's life. I bought it from a builder who put up a couple of houses a year and used it for site work. He owned it since about 1986. Does the limited use result in seal failure? I'd like to save the $$ but I don't want to have to take it apart in another few months.
