I had the reverser out and put in new clutches and bearings. It is back in now and seems to work fine. I am trying to adjust the rate of shift valve. I can adjust it in so the shift take about 5 seconds to get the pressure back up to 150psi. Any further in and the pressure only comes up to 70 psi and will not go to 150. Very little Adjustment of the screw seems to change the results a lot. I can not get the shift to take 10 to 15 seconds like the manual describes. Do I have a problem in the control valve or is the valve seat and adjusting screw worn or should I be happy it shifts smooth and works?
Thanks

350 Reverser Adjustment
Your rate of shift should be 1 to 5 seconds. The lower the number the harder it will shift. The larger the number the easier it will shift. This screw also has an effect on the engagement pressure. Screwed in too much will limit your engagement pressure. This will also be effected by temperature. The warmer the machine gets the more this adjustment will change and if in too tight will restrict engagement. Thus causing a slipping effect. I personally like to have a fast engagement and then will use the clutch when shifting to change direction. Otherwise it makes the shift too hard and it jerks the operator around pretty badly. The fast rate of shift does however guarantee full engagement pressure at the clutch packs no matter what the machines operating temperature is. It comes down to personal preference. Some guys don't like using the clutch pedal for shifting and prefer a softer and slower shift at the lever. So, adjustment should also be made while the machine is at operating temperature. If done while cold you won't have an accurate adjustment for your rate of shift or your engagement pressures.

Hi,
Personally, I am always up for more pressure on the clutch packs, then using the clutch pedal to modulate the engagement myself.....
