JD350 Loader keeps dying HELP!!
Okay guys, my loaders acting up. It starts fine, runs for about an hour maybe more sometimes, then dies..and wont start for several hours. Sometimes I will accidently hit switch and kill it and it will not restart for hours. Like it gets hot and shuts down.
I have the CBC331-6AL pump on it, so I know theres no turds blocking the lines. Could I have debris in the tank or in the return line...

UPDATE!
Okay guys here's where I am at. So I got the loader started, let it idle for a while then drove it about 500 feet to house, as I was going to park it, it began to kinda starve for fuel, I got off and pulled the return line at bottom of pump...fuel ran out but nothing happened, still sputtered then died. so after that I unscrewed the air bleed pipe screw and it was bubbling with air, I cranked it over a time and air bubbles, then solid fuel. I then put the screw back in, turned it over a few times and bingo it started..then I throttled it up and ran a few, then starved, sputtered, blue smoke..died..I then repeated the previous process, and it started again. This is the first time I have gotten it to start without letting it sit for hours.. SO where is this air coming from..anyone?
SECOND THING: I went around to other side ealier, before I started bleeding and noticed there was no resistance on the flapper on the fuel pump, thinking it may have been off the lope.. Once I got machine started I checked again, nope, no resistance..in fact I could move it back and forth and it was barely touching the lobes, I could hear it ding, but it still moved freely..
SO, my question is, is the pump the problem? its bad and when it sits for a moment the line gravity feed to the pump , then it starts..am I correct or way off...LAVOY, Demairis, LOL

?? come on guys, lol
67 people have looked at this and no one has a suggestion/answer lol..not even a winger.
First of all, welcome to the board. Please realize that few of us are one here professionally so we reply when we can, and although there may have been a lot of views not everyone has the knowledge to provide meaningful feedback (although if you want a zinger, we can do that too )
Before we go a lot further, I wanted to know if you had read the thread below- although some aspects of what was identified may already have been troubleshot by you it has a lot of good information from a situation similar to yours:

Hi,
Those diaphragms crack over time. If it is really cracked, then you might see diesel in the oil. A small crack sucks air. Sometimes a good one sucks air anyway if the fuel tank vent is plugged up. And, mud daubers love to plug up fuel tank vents.
The floppy lever is a clue that something is wrong right there.
By the end of summer, I might be joining you with a 350D Dozer. Then, I will have a live reference out in the barn.

Stan, So the vent in the tank was plugged, I unplugged it, and still had the problem. But I think that it may have created that vacuum you was speaking about and caused damaged to the fuel lift pump.
Does this sound plausible? I started the loader again and while it was running I went around and took a look at the dual filters, the firststage filter, started bubbling air, then more air, then the machine shut down. So am I correct in assuming the pump is shot?

Hi,
It does sound like your pump diaphragm has a leak in it now. Probably from fighting the plugged tank vent.

Okay, well I do believe it is the fuel pump, thanks Stan and everyone else that assisted. I ended up bypassing the pump and filter and ran a line straight to the injector pump and into a jug of diesel...bingo..dozer ran, even at full throttle and did not die at all..So I'm ordering a new pump, found one on Amazon for $32.00, so I will try it.
Again thanks
Again thanks

FOLLOW UP
Oaky fellas, I'm posting a follow-up..So I replace the fuel lift pump, tada..same problem.. So, I ran a hose from the suction side of new left pump into a jug of fuel, and walla, it wored..ran fine..so that told me the problem was between tank and lift pump. So I took off the fuel line at tank then the fuel cock. Sticking out of the tank about a quarter of an inch was a bunch of gunk..problem located..I then pressurized the tank and out shot the gob of gunk and a steady stream of fuel. hooed everthing back up and loader ran fine...UNTIL
I shut it off, then it would not restart, but this is a problem that it had before the plugged line. After it cools down it will start fine. From reading all of the threads I have a strong belief the fuel solenoid is bad.. sometimes it will run after turned off, that was the first event, then it started not starting when turn off until it cools down, them starts right up.. I'm going to try and clean the solenoid and see if that help.
