Re: loosing power to right track
Jim,
sorry but i cannot help...mine is a jd440. Sounds like something loose or heating up once you get going,??? And YES i would say a good chance of some kind of contamination.
don't know where all the guys are that usually will answer these questions, but do know the board has been going thru a bunch of problems and the new upgrade seems to have solved and improved everything.
hang in there they will surely help out yet!!!

Re: loosing power to right track
"Loosing power"??? Not sure what you mean. Is the right side clutch slipping? Or is the right side brake partially applying, creating drag? Could there be drag on the left side that goes away after it warms up , making it appear like the right side starts loosing power? Does it have power steering?

Re: loosing power to right track
actually from your wording.....it seems that your track is not driving....you talk about the steering, but you have not said that you are applying that brake to turn......you seem to be saying that machine cannot go in straight line as a power difference is between tracks! That would seem to indicate either splines or gears worn.....or something is loose and not engaging properly. or possibly bad clutches
assuming that you replaced both steerings etc.

It Is fine when cold after three hours working it is not staying straight and wants to turn right

ok....so what is rest of story on machine.?
any work done on the tracks or plates....same number of plates or track pads on each track? if one shorter than other that would cause this problem, also i think if one is looser than other.
need info as to any other work done on the tracks.
though cold vs warm seems like clutches.

Re: loosing power to right track
A short track wouldn't wait for three hours to make it pull to one side. The same can be said about worn splines or gears. I believe it comes down to steering clutches/brakes. Either clutch is slipping or the brake is dragging. Or maybe both. The ? is why. Improper adjustment or oil leak? I don't remember if he said weather there is slippage on that side when it starts pulling to the one side.dtoots1 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2017 3:39 pmok....so what is rest of story on machine.?

Re: loosing power to right track
Hi,
My experience with oil leaks is that once oiled, they do not need any operating time to slip. So, this sounds like a heating issue causing some sort of a change in the spring pressure of the pressure plate.

Re: loosing power to right track
I wonder if the brake is dragging and getting hot enough to transfer heat to the pressure plate springs , causing the springs to weaken enough to let the right steering clutch to slip. He never said if, when working the machine, that track is slipping.
