JD 350 Reverser Adjustment
JD 350 Reverser Adjustment
I have a 74 JD 350b dozer and I have read a lot about a screw that "adjusts the flow" to the reverser. Can anyone provide an exact location of this screw? a picture would be really great. New to the Dozer world, and loving it. Replaced both Steering Clutches already. I think I need a little twerk on the reverser. Appreciate the help.

Go to the parts book; http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servelet/com.deere.u90490. Enter the model (1010) and darken "exact model search" and click on "find". You want parts book number 0727, page 80, key 23B. Get 4 inches of 3/16 welding rod, bend it 3x1 and flatten the end of the 3 to a screwdriver shape. Then get 3/4" masking tape and, 3/4" from the screwdriver end, wrap it around until it is nearly the diameter of the hole you will be putting it in. Pull the plug and adjust with the engine running and in NEUTRAL, preferably with brake locked and double checking neutral. Turn the screw while listening to the reverser shift. It has been over fifty years, but I remember the contortions well but maybe not everything else.

Do a search for "john deere - parts catalog". I use Dogpile search engine. The search should give you a list, including the John Deere site, where you will continue as above.

Re: JD 350 Reverser Adjustment
Not sure why you're adjusting the reverser but, if it jerking too hard or it's too mushie when changing direction, (on my 350B) the adjustment screw is accessed from under the machine. As I recall, it's on the left about to the front of the seat forward from the rear of the machine. There is a small pipe plug that needs to be removed( engine not running) then small flat blade screw driver to be inserted to adjust. To speed up reverser engagement, turn screw out(ccw) and to slow down turn it in. (clockwise) Don't forget to put the pipe plug back in. If you don't it will pump oil right out.
