350B parts
350B parts
I acquired a 350B in pieces. The reverser was bad when the last owner took it apart. I have found the transmission input shaft has about 50% of the splines missing, so on disassembly, I found about a 1/16 of end play. That was due to a spacer missing on the shaft. I am having trouble finding parts for this machine. I mainly need a whole reverser or a source for the parts. As I get more into this machine I may need quite a few more parts. Does anyone on here know of a good parts source? I went to Broken Tractor and Wengers so far.

You could try SEWL. Schaefer Equipment of Wulf Lake. Illinois state 1 hour south of St Louis MO, if i remember.
Re: 350B parts
I have some availability of parts, but input shaft is next to impossible.

Have you tried E-Bay? Every once in a while strange parts come up for the 350's.

Re: 350B parts
Thanks to everyone for your help.
Lavoy, I found some transmission input shafts. I am learning the pistons were updated and can use a "rubber" seal. do you have nay info on that? I have layed out the parts for the reverser I have and found the failure was the bearing at the clutch side of the input shaft. The rear shaft is damaged and needs replacement. T34905 is the part number, do you have one?

Re: 350B parts
As far as I know, always were steel rings.
Trans input is available, not reverser input. Reverser output is available too, just let me know.

Re: 350B parts
I found out my 66 350 strait has a combination of steel rings and soft rubber "washers" as Deere called them in my reverser piston assemblies.

Re: 350B parts
Wow did I ever get myself into an engineering project.
On the transmission input shaft, I received the new one today. I measured the bearing shoulders and have determined that the OAL is short by .030. I have all the Timken specs on the bearings and I'm pretty sure the front bearing called out is not correct. It has a huge radius, which is why the failure occurred in the first place. I have selected a new bearing cone with a small radius, it will set against the hard washer correctly. What a mess. Even after that, I will still have to shorten the "quill" to get some room to adjust the end play with shims. Good thing I run a machine shop!!
Now the reverser, another re engineer project. I have a supplier that will sell me a " refurb". I'd rather have done the rebuild myself so I can see it all went together correctly, but they won't sell me the carcass. I have done some research into the seals used. There are rotary hydraulic seals that will run at 2250 rpm all day long. At this point I'm not sure what JD is specifying for the "new" seals in the reverser clutch cylinders. I'm awaiting pictures from the rebuilder. A little checking with a friend that rebuilds automatic car transmissions for a living let me know that the Teflon seals with o-ring energizers are the way to go. All that will take is remachining the existing ring grooves to accept the new seals.
After all this I hope this information will be used by other 350 owners to their benefit.
More to come as I get into doing some assembly next week.

Re: 350B parts
If you are still looking for a complete reverser check out Vermont Craigslist. There is a guy in Johnson that advertises complete drive train components for 350's and 450's as well as parts
Re: 350B parts
Thanks NWJD fan. I spoke with Mark, great guy. He has a lot of stuff at his place. Lots to do this week end!!
Re: 350B parts
This weekend was not very productive. As I looked into the Isolator parts needed I realized that the 5 spring set up I have is basically junk. I would like to go to the 350D set up but the cost of the flywheel is crazy. I'm not sure even if I could find the rubber isolator either. I'm considering machining up a flywheel to accept the 1010 isolator. That flywheel would fit in one of our medium CNC lathes!! Benefits of running a Tool & Die shop!! Does anyone know of a reasonable way to get out of this with out giving up my right arm?
Re: 350B parts
Send a message to Lavoy(site administrator). He had some "350D" kits for sale. I think any way you go it is going to be $$$. Bruce
torsional isolator
If you don't go with 350D style isolator search show and tell or late model forum for an article on using a 100+ hp rated clutch assy bolted to the flywheel as an alternate style of torsional isolator.
Re: 350B parts
Lavoy,
Do you have a 350D flywheel and coupling set up for my 350B. If so how much will that set me back?
Thanks in advance
