Dead 350B
Dead 350B
A friend has a 350B that has been sitting for several years. We tried to load it onto a trailer and the tracks won't turn. The question is if trans is in neutral should the tracks turn or is there something else we need to do to load it?

Hi,
A crawler moves easier than a wheel tractor with the trans in neutral. Unless it has rusted pins in the bushings on the chains. Then it won't move at all.

Re: Dead 350B
Brake bands might be rusted to the drums, back the adjustment bolt off and see if that helps.

Re: Dead 350B
As a bulldozer logger, this has nearly killed me a dozen times. I kick the machine in neutral, go to unhook my chokers, and then the dozer starts to roll backwards. This is on a grade that my tractor or bulldozer would not roll back on.Stan Disbrow wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 2:38 pmHi,

My father once claimed a bulldozer could be jump started if left on a hill, and I said it couldn't. I lost that bet.
I have no intention of traveling to my grave in a well manicured body; instead I am going to slide into heaven with a big power turn, totally wore out with busted knuckles, jump off my dozer loudly yelling, Woo Hoo, another Shepard has just arrived!

Re: Dead 350B
Is the motor running or are you pushing/pulling it onto the trailer? Is there a reverser on it?

Dozer "rolls" surprising easily when in neutral.Actually pretty dangerous if you're unaware. Lavoy was spot on and I also think your tracks are probably rusted at pins to bushings. Either get a bigger tractor to break it loose or a large winch( think tow truck). Once track rust bond and/or brake bands pop loose she'll roll.
Had issue with the 450C I just finished with track rails being stuck but once I got it operational and few runs in 2H got them pivoting on pins and bushings as they are supposed to.
