help with a 450
Hi all
I am new to the group. I just got a 450 and I am trying to date it and maybe find a manual. She runs strong and sounds great. The serial number seems to put it in the 60's but it looks to be in very good shape for something that old.
Serial number from the tag just below the seat to the right:
SN(T or I) 5F3M 015443T
Off the engine block R hand side:
T23406T
Is this indeed from the 60's? Thanks in advance.
Robert

Re: help with a 450
Welcome to the forum. SN's are listed in the FAQ section. It looks like your 15443 is a 1965. In the FAQ section the 1965 450 serial numbers are 10,001-16,159. Take care, Bruce
Re: help with a 450
Thanks that's what I thought. It must have been barely used because it looks great and runs strong. I'll post pics once I figure that out. Anyone know a source for manuals?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: help with a 450
Check eBay for the manual. May have to check back several times.
Re: help with a 450
Try the JD website I found a conn to a website with service manuals and owners manuals. SS with a 1956 JD 420-L-C working machine!
Re: help with a 450
E-bay and Amazon have been good to me for many manuals. You need service and most important is the parts manual. Most suppliers need the original JD part number to source the correct OEM,aftermarket,NOS or used part.

Re: help with a 450
I have bought most of my manuals from Deere. Just buy the least expensive on line version, copy to a memory stick, go to your nearest print shop and in a day or two you have a new manual in a binder. Plus, if you mess up some pages, it is easy to just print replacements as you need them.

Soooo, I take it a ''memory stick'' isn't one of those things with 2 eyes,a mouth,a nose, and 2 ears. Maybe I'm just old but somebody please fill me in because I can probably use one of those gadgets.

memory stick is a memory device you plug into the port on the computer and then you can download and save to the memory stick, unplug, and take to where it is needed; print shop, different computer, another device etc. Dirt cheap now days.

Re: help with a 450
Hi,
They contain Flash memory and hook up via USB. They show up as a hard drive. AKA, a Flash Drive, Memory Key, Key Drive, etc. I call them SneakerNet, which is what we called floppy disks which the Key Drive replaced. This, because you load your files onto them, then use you Sneakers to take the files to another machine instead of passing them along the Network.
