350C Op Manuals

Post by Stan Disbrow » Thu Mar 22, 2018 9:18 am

Hi,

Well, I finally found a 350 for me after 10 years or so of looking. It is a C version and will be here in a couple of weeks. So, off to eBay I went to pick up some manuals for it.

Now, you know, some time back I went and produced a list of manuals for all the iron we love to chat about around here. For the 350C, I just went to the Yellow Deere site and grabbed some numbers. Today, I see where there are several Operator Manual numbers for sale:

OM T44047
OM T56371
OM T62741
OM T70343
OM T73439
OM T79469

That last one is the one listed over on the Deere site. I bought T73439 as it was the lowest cost one out there. However, the serial number of mine is from mid-run 1978 so that puts it near the beginning of the C line. These numbers are in production order, so now I wonder if I ought to have bought one of the lower number ones....

I think I know how to operate a crawler dozer by now, but want to read thru an OM anyway. Might be a tidbit in there, you know. ;) And, I want it to match what I have.

But, why so many OMs for the C series? Anyone know what changed between any of these? Perhaps the later OMs just add things and so also cover the earlier machines?

At least the TM and PC numbers were only one each. And, they are more important anyway.

Stan, I have an OM Manual that comes with the 350C, it is OM-T62741 issue C8, it came with the dozer so it is yours, I don't know what the difference is on the issue.. I was reading it looking for a date of print or copyright date, nothing,, but in breezing thru it I came upon a section for transporting..
and under the transport section it says " transport to N.Carolina strictly forbidden".. I don't know how it got there I have never seen that before..

Best regards Mark.

P,S. I still want some PondHog Tee shirts, I'll be in touch.

Hi,

Oh, no! Not an No NC! Has to be a typo.

Here we say Got To Be NC! Our State farmer's slogan.

http://www.gottobenc.com/

We have a second state fair coming up in May. Most of the farm clubs bring stuff to it. The Ag Commissioner felt that the fall fair was getting a bit too removed from its' roots so he came up with the idea of another one in the spring. It is a lot of fun.

And, Mark is whom I am getting the 350C from. :)

Well, I will have two OMs and can see what differences there might be.

Hi,

Well, OM T73439 arrived in the mail and I see where it covers the three bulldozers (6300 inside manual, 6305 PAT and 6310 outside manual), the loader, and two backhoes (9300 and 9550). The maintenance section covers roller lubrication, so that was a surprise to me. I thought the C series marked the change to sealed rollers along with wet steering clutches.

Edit: Ah, I see in the PC that the sealed rollers came in as a running change during C series production. So, my WetWare wasn't completely CRS! :P

Hi,

Just an update. I see one item that doesn't match. The late OM shows the later hydraulic tank with associated spin-on filter. My machine has the original style tank without a spin-on filter. So, that is pretty glaring. I expect each OM has updates as they changed little things like this.

Doesn't really matter much to me. Most of what is in there I already knew. I probably will not be referring to it again. Like the OM for the 420c. I have it. Never pull it off the shelf. I go for the SM or the PC once in a while. Never the OM.

Hey Stan, mine is a 79' with an internal hydraulic filter as well as greaseable rollers. been using it quite a bit lately and I am considering a nice blast and painting for the old girl. there is a place a couple hrs from me which uses three blasting agents for steel, glass and another for wiring/hoses. they spray it down with a flash rusting inhibitor then paint it with a durable o.e. color urethane finish. re-decal and done.....being its never outside I think it would stay nice looking the whole time I have it.
