LGP tracks and then some
LGP tracks and then some
Just picked up this 350c and cannot believe how wide these tracks are . Measure 8' 3" to the outside. Seems more like a snow cat then a dozer with rippers. Anyone got info on these..
Well I guess I can't upload the pics that I took today

What you have is most likely a factory wide track machine or conversion. We are down to 3 of them, 2 loaders and 1 dozer all with hoes. Expensive to run in terms of the extension axles, undercarriage, frames and cross members, especially when you up the engines size and horsepower like we did, but for us they were incredibly machines that could work in soft ground. Should be 33” pads and on the 350, 450 and 550 they were 36”. On our 450C wide track we ran 24”, which gave decent floatation and still turned decent on hard ground.
I just mounted a tree spade on one of the loader machines and will be putting it to use in a months time. The wide tracks won’t leave ruts on my lawn.

Hi,
The image is missing, but I did see them in another thread. Swamp Pads is what I have always called them. They were a standard option. There is a difference at the sprocket end to go with the wide pads. Another bearing you get to lubricate with 90wt IIRC. Those pads like to bend when run on hard ground and steering puts extra load on all the rest of the u/c when not on soft stuff, too.

Yup they are 33" pads, steers good right but something must be wrong with left brake it is weak and does not turn well left. Was going to play with it more but found water in the engine oil so I shut it down to investigate that issue
Re: LGP tracks and then some
I hope the water(or coolant?) in the engine compartment is condensation secondary to non-use and an extended period since the last service. Keep us posted, Bruce
Re: LGP tracks and then some
Can't smell that it's antifreeze but the radiator level is low and it looks like a milkshake in the crankcase so I'm afraid it's got a leak. Gonna change the oil and filter and run it a bit. I have a coolant system pump somewhere hopefully I can find it and pump up the radiator and see if it leaks down...
Thanx guys

Re: LGP tracks and then some
Let the engine set for a day or two without running. Then unscrew the engine oil drain plug, down to the last thread. Make note of the first few drops of liquid before you plug the plug away. If clear water; there is hope. If it is anti-freeze; well there is not need for the pressure tester. Good luck to you, Bruce
Re: LGP tracks and then some
When you drain the oil, leave the plug out for a while and watch to see if you get any antifreeze draining out the next day. Not always a good test, but have had it work.

Confirmed it today, the water in the crankcase is green... There is a reason people take equipment to auctions. Guess I'm doing an In frame this summer...
