HYD pump options
HYD pump options
I have a MC crawler along with a model 61 blade and frame but no engine mounted Hyd pump. Having trouble finding one and wondering if there is an alternative option, ie a pump driven off the rear power take off?

Re: HYD pump options
Hi,
The M only had the cam-driven gear pump. IIRC one off a wheel tractor M is the same. Could add it and fab up your own tank and lines. Or, as you note, a PTO pump.

Re: HYD pump options
They are not hard to find, I should have them on hand. But, do you only need the pump, or the whole hyd system?
61 blade is heavy on an MC, at the very least, set it in the 4 roller position, that will help some.

Re: HYD pump options
Thanks for the quick response. Lavoy, I have every thing but the pump, which I am told must be for the crawler as the one for the M tractor is different(is this true?) what can I expect to pay for one of these pumps?

Stan,
Thanks for the quick response. Do you know where I might find a pto pump?

Re: HYD pump options
Hi
Northern Hydraulic, their old name said it all, has one:
https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools ... _200329700
I would rather have the gear pump off the cam myself and keep the PTO available for other uses.
I don't recall a difference in the gear pump on the M. The 420 has a larger one, or at least the inlet pipe got bigger. But, then lots of things got bigger on the 420 from the 40. I also don't recall that the 40 pump was different from the M, either.
Lavoy can answer that better than I can, and he likely has one on hand to boot.

Pump with new bearings, seals and rings is $350.
PTO pump will not really work, too high volume, you won't have live hyd, and lots of plumbing issues.
