Been away from the board for a while. Work at pays the bills job is booming and it's also time to do soooo many projects. Working on implements at big farm, working on garden at factory site, had to do a minor fix on a ford 335 industrial(tie rod ends etc) and trying to at least keep up.
Had my first heat stress event of 2018 a couple of weeks ago and that sucked. Went back to a straw cowboy hat versus a ball cap when in the sun and surprisingly it does seem to help. One would think that being a Texan I would know that but it's been decades since I wore a cowboy hat.
My old equipment is all working as it should, better than me actually
Missed my friends here and what have ya'll been up to?

Never bought one, but should have. I did see a hat that has deal in the headband that absorbs water. Soak the hat for half an hour, and you are wearing a small swamp cooler.

Hi Lavoy,
What east Texas is like: Monday at 8 in the morning it was 82 with 93 percent humidity. Same all week so far.Afternoons are low 90's with same killer humidity. It ain't a dry heat around here...You sweat and stay wet so no evaporative cooling effect. It sucks.

Re: Daily Grind
The older I get, the less I like heat, and I especially hate humidity with it. 92 here yesterday, never heard humidity level, but not that. At least we will get down into the 50's or so at night for now.

Re: Daily Grind
We are supposed to get triple-digits for most of the next week, far to early in the season for that. Our predicted low for Sat. morn, is 70, far too hot. But at 5:00 the humidity was 23%. We will survive I guess, we are still under 5" of rain for the year also.

Wife and I went on a quick 800 mile round trip to pick up another farm tractor (tis a John Deere) sunday and monday.100 degrees in dallas area at 5 in the evening on sunday. Got back to Longview 6 in the evening on monday and it was 97 with that killer humidity.Tractor is a 68hp 2030 and so far looks to be a good one. Eval, some small repairs, and heavy maintenance cycle will take me a week or so.

Re: Daily Grind
You could throw some of that heat our way.
On June 2nd we actually had frost here, which is odd even for Maine. The rule has always been to not plant the garden before the first full moon in May, and yet frost happened AFTER the full moon on May 27th...very strange.

I have no intention of traveling to my grave in a well manicured body; instead I am going to slide into heaven with a big power turn, totally wore out with busted knuckles, jump off my dozer loudly yelling, Woo Hoo, another Shepard has just arrived!
