After cranking up the engine of my crawler, turning the knob on the speed control to ramp up the RPM will sometimes work and sometimes not. It's frustrating since it will work for days or weeks at a time then not work for days & weeks.
I've taken it into the shop but as luck would have it, every single time it's in the shop it magically works. I will be demonstrating to the mechanic how I start up and all of a sudden it will make me look like a fool by revving up the rpm. The mechanic has taken it apart, done fooled with every thing he can think of and still can't find out why it's this.
Any know why it's doing this? Please help this poor unfortunate soul. It's hot as heck in Texas and I'm tiring with fooling with it every summer under the sun.

Re: 450J Crawler Speed Control Intermittently Works
Hi,
Yes, the Late Model forum is for 1965 and newer JD series (350, 450, etc). But, most folks tend to look at both Early and Late forums. The issue here is I think there are only a couple members who know about something this new. And, unfortunately, I am not one of those. I have never been closer to a 450J than driving by one on a job site alongside the road..... Aren't they electronically controlled?
Intermittent electronics is something I have a lot of experience with, but that won't be of much help across the net. That requires being at the machine with at least a digital multimeter and maybe even an oscilloscope.
