My guess on the fine threads is you have to turn the thing one full turn to adjust. Given the magnification if you will of any small movement due to mechanical advantage and such, standard pitch threads would not give fine enough adjustment.

Re: 350 steering clutch adjuster
Hi there,
I broke my stearring clutch linkage and am hoping not to have to pull the track...
In your post you said you would share how you removed the broken stud...
No room for a easy out, drill, or dremmel tool.
Please share!
Thanks,
Bob

Not sure what you mean, but no good way to get at the stud with the final on, depending on which one it is.

Re: 350 steering clutch adjuster
Sorry...having technical difficulty's due to being new to the forum!
I broke the ball joint on the linkage on my 350 B dozer...there are two ball joints on the clutch linkage in the box where you would adjust the brake band. One appears to be a straight stud secured with a nut (on the vertical shaft) and the other is threaded into the lever with no backing nut. I sheared the one that hits the cog to apply the track brake. One guy welded the ball back on. One was able to work the broken shift out with a screw driver far enough to get vice grips on it. I am wondering if there is a way to get the part off the horizontal shaft so I can drill and remove the broken threaded stud.
Maybe the better question is where do I buy a shop manual?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi,
There are sometimes deals on eBay. There is a long list of manual numbers over in the FAQ:

It is in machine production order, so you will have to scroll down a bit.

Re: 350 steering clutch adjuster
Got the stud out...bought the manual...installed the new parts...and as this forum says they do not work. The linkage is too short and there is not enough thread to lengthen it and the threads are totally oddball.
Does anyone have a #17364 (Joint ball male end) for the steering linkage they would like to sell me so I can go back to the original linkage?
Thanks,
Bob
