question, i know i seen it mentioned somewhere...but can jd440ic be changed over to the diesel engine and bolt up properly? or is more extenuating circumstances beyond that and the radiator or will engine be too much for components? also curious do they all have blower?

You know enough time and money and you can do about anything. I would believe they used most if not all the same drive train for both the gas and diesel engines.
The two stroke "Jimmy's" all had blowers. They don't have a separate exhaust stroke so they need the forced air to clear the cylinders and induce fresh air for the next compression stroke.
I'm sure someone will provide answers on all that needs to change to install the diesel engine into a gas crawler but I expect it is more than just the engine and radiator. I expect the flywheel will be different and some mounts and supports. The electrical, fuel tank/system, and air filter/intake could be different. The hydraulic pump will be different, as you know. Browsing through the parts books for both machines may give you some answers.

You would have to donor a diesel crawler to do it, extensive changes. Plus you would have to have a later crawler wit the big transmission, or the diesel will eat it. If you want a diesel crawler, way simpler to buy a diesel crawler.

You know, when I read this last night I did seem to recall there was a 'Big' trans behind the 2-53 in the 440. But, I didn't want to post until I looked that up.
I know from experience that the 435 Ag wheel tractor with the 2-53 and 1000 RPM PTO, meant for fast haying with a 3-string baler, would eat ring and pinion gears if that extra power was used with extra plow bottoms. It had the same trans as the 430w.
I can see where they would have needed to beef things up when putting the 2-53 into a crawler.

that is kinda what i had thought...enough power difference would tear thru the rear components...that is the big difference. beyond that never did see anyone baby power!! if its there its used! leastways till something gives.
