Final drive sprocket bearing 450C

Post by Rincon » Thu Jul 12, 2018 3:56 pm

OK everyone, I have a press. before I jump at it, installing the large bearing on the axle shaft. wondering how those of you have done a bearing this size did this one. Been trying to get a pipe that would fit over the shaft down on the bearing without messing up the bearing. That size of pipe is next to impossible to find locally. too large or small. I was going to heat the bearing and press on.. any suggestions? Heat bearing drop on and tap down with blunt chizle ? Risky but possible.

You may have to press the bearing on with a bearing separator or just use the press plates/bars. Keep us posted, Bruce

The answer was right in front me yesterday after i posted. The old Bearing sleeve. and using a 3 1/2" pipe extender. I thought the pipe would have worked but it was to large and would have pressured against the bearings and destroyed them. However, this weekend I will attempt the bearing install on the shaft.
