Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
I've only seen one a crawler a couple times, but I can't find anything with any background info on it.
Any help would be appreciated!
Here's a video of what I'm talking about:

Hi,
9300 for loader machines only, 9550 for dozer and loader. For the 350B thru 350D. Terribly rough on the 350 u/c. Every one I have seen has destroyed rear rollers.

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
Thank you for the input Stan!
However, isn't there likely some sort of model or part # distinction for the extend-a-hoe versus the standard hoe? Naturally, it's often all about the "keyword" searching when sourcing online. So I'd like to think have that info might help my cause on this hunt.
I looked at buying a 450 up in Canada that had the extend-a-hoe. I should have asked them what the stamp plate said!
If you happen to know what it is, that would be awesome!

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
Ok, so upon further investigation, it is actually called the "extendable dipperstick" option. I have the wheeled backhoe loader model numbers it came on- that's at least the ones I've found the option came on thus far. The 410B and an older version on the 310's.
See the last page of this PDF:

I'm probably gonna hop on the JD parts site, and see if I can find the attachment model there.

It may be an option on some but I didn't see during a quick look at the 9300 and 9550 parts catalogs. It is possible someone swapped boom pivots, boom, dipper stick; or some combination of those to get the extendahoe dipper arrangement on the crawler mount. Stranger things have been done.

I found the part, at least one version of it. The extendahoe on the 450C in the youtube video I have in the original post is the 9550. Naturally, the "attachment" version components are the biggest difference, as it's embedded as part of the 410D.
The part # is AT83908.

Unfortunately, it's not like I can order it. I am likely gonna have to find some beat piece of shit 410 destined for a scrap yard, and salvage that one piece. I have a 9300 on my 350C. I am gonna have to see if it's possible to swap out the lower arm of my 9300 with the 9550 counterpart. The only other thing I'd be curious about is if I need an extra hydraulic line to operate extender slide.

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
You will need a few things besides the sliding dipper assembly. You will need to add another valve section and control to your current hoe valve bank to operate it. Then you will need two lines (hoses) from the added valve to the extender cylinder. They would follow the routing of the bucket cylinder hoses from the valve to the boom. The factory steel lines are usually inside the boom to protect them from damage. You will need the hoses on the dipper for the bucket cylinder from the extend-a-hoe because the bucket cylinder moves with the slider.
You will need to do a good bit of checking part numbers (pins and such) and component dimensions (width of the fabrications, etc.) of where you plan to pin on to be sure they are compatible.

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
The hoe on the 450C is not a 9550, it is a predessor model with a single swing cylinder. Just got one in in pieces and now have it operational on a straight 450 loader.
You could put in a diverted valve on one of the stabilizer functions for use on the extendahoe.
The extendahoe is going to be very heavy on the back of a 450.

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
Ha! I've got a 350C not a 450 lol. I mean, I already bob up and down during travel with my 9300 hoe on the back.
It's not like I want to do a shit ton of fab- I don't have time for it all. But I got a guy, so maybe he can make it work. The question I would have would be- what's the easiest build? If it's a diverter valve, maybe I'll run with that.

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
Using a diverter valve saves finding and adding a valve section to the existing backhoe valve bank. You still need to add all the other things. So no real change in change work, fabrication, or parts required to make it work.

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?
Hi,
Also, keep in mind that a standard hoe on a 350 already weighs more than the u/c can handle. Especially the two rear rollers on each side. After their bushings go, it becomes the turn of the sprocket bearings. Personally, the last thing I would want to do is make a hoe heavier on a 350. And, that probably explains why the option doesn't show up in the 350 books.
