Don't keep running it. Sounds like you need to get into the final drive and steering clutch on the left side.

Can you rent something? Hate to see further damage. Have a look at my post and see what happens to final drive case if you keep going.

Assuming the left clutch/brake is properly adjusted it is probably the left clutch (slipping if it stops under load too). Back up to turn right to do your gravel and don't push heavy, but you are about to pull the left final and rebuild the clutch.

Cant afford to rent something.. this is the project I bought the machine for :/ the final drive case on that side has been welded back together at least 2 times from serious cracking.. I planned to replace the housing eventually and do bearings, brakes and clutches. I'll just have to take my time and not work it too hard and hope she holds up

Have you checked to see if you are rubbing against the safety block located just in front of the drive sprocket? If you are something is out of alignment on your track.

No track stop on 440's.
If it s grinding while just driving straight, bearings are likely out. The parts you may be destroying are probably about the same cost as renting a machine for a few hours.
If it stops when turning right, LH clutch is shot or out of adjustment, or oil soaked.

Can you jack up the rear of the machine and loosen the LHS track right off? Try and see if there is any outward movement in the axle. If there is any that could mean axle bearings. You could also drain the oil on that final and take the pan off and see whats in there, hopefully no pieces of anything. If the problem is on the drive shaft, you could take the cover off and see the outboard bearing, carefully thats where the shims are. If you are keeping this, I would just pull the final drive right off and go through it, there's really no easy fixes and there's usually something in there that needs addressing. Good luck - post pics

As Lavoy posted. "If it s grinding while just driving straight, bearings are likely out." "If it stops when turning right, LH clutch is shot or out of adjustment, or oil soaked."

It appears to be two issues; Final drive and steering clutch.
